Anyone who has fond memories of spending summers up north in cottage country
probably remembers places like Santa's Village in Bracebridge. With over 60 years of family fun under their belt, Santa's
Village is synonymous with good old fashioned values; a place where kids can be kids and where mom and dad can reminisce about
their own childhoods.
For this mother of four, the annual visit
from Santa means family time. As my children continue to grow and develop their own sense of self, quality family time is
becoming that much more important. I want my kids to remember their childhood as a time when mom and dad always had fun and
adventure in their sights. Places such as Santa's Village in Bracebridge encompass just that.
My first memory
of Santa's Village was as a child. I couldn't have been more than 12 or 13 when my parents took the family there for the
day while staying with friends at a cottage. They have certainly grown over the years, continually adding on to their surroundings.
The Santa's Village complex now includes Whispering Pines Campground complete
with trailer and RV hook-ups for those of you who want to glam it up a little, rather than roughing it in a tent.
For the little kid in all of us, the Village has a magical community feeling
complete with the Muskoka River running through the park. Rides such as Reindeer Rollercoaster, Ferris Wheel, Swan Paddle
Boats, River Boat Cruise, ATV Peddle Bikes and the Spray N' Play Splash Pad make for a busy day. And if watching Santa and
his Elves at work is more your style, then you can do that too. New within the Village is Elf Sky Challenge, where children
3 and up can safely maneuver over an aerial course complete with gingerbread men and candy canes.
For the bigger kid, we have Sportsland. Whether your preference is a round of Mini-golf,
Go-Karts, Batting Cages, Laser Tag, Bungee Trampoline, Rock Climbing or rockin' out in the Arcade, Santa's Village Sportsland
has it all.
Santa's Village is a wonderful place for families
to reconnect and slow down their fast paced lives. I truly enjoy going there and seeing the smiles on my little ones faces.
We will in fact be heading their again next week on vacation.
matter what your summer getaways entail, just remember to include the sunscreen and play safe.
